Founder and Operations Chief

Kimmy, inspired by her early experiences with financial hardship, founded Yucatan Giving Outreach A.C. in 2013. Her non-profit provides art, resources, and support to the underprivileged, including domestic violence victims and aged-out teens. In addition to running a physical rehabilitation clinic, Kimmy enjoys horseback riding and polo. Her leadership has resulted in significant contributions, including 15,000 food bags during COVID and hundreds of Christmas gifts for those in need. Driven by a desire to give back, Kimmy is dedicated to addressing social injustices and supporting her community.

President

Ellyne has been a part-time resident of Yucatán since 1978 and full-time since 2004. With 27 years of experience in retail in NYC and 15 years as a business educator, she now mentors at Universidad Anahuac Mayab. Inspired by Kim’s dedication, Ellyne is committed to contributing to the community. She brings strong networking skills, bilingualism, and a passion for helping others. Ellyne leads the Blanket Brigade and Christmas distribution, combining her love of shopping with a mission to provide warmth and joy to Yucatecan children.

Treasurer

Originally from the US, Deborah has lived in Mérida full-time for over 10 years. With a background in accounting and bookkeeping across various industries, she contributes to YGO by handling financial reporting. Deborah finds joy in service and is grateful for the opportunity to be part of this organization. She enjoys staying active through hiking, weight training, scuba diving, and traveling, particularly throughout Mexico.

Fundraiser chair

Patricia has lived in Mérida full-time for over eleven years, after spending most of her life in Colorado. With a background in insurance and active involvement in Kiwanis International, she finds joy in participating in service organizations. A natural people person, Patricia regularly socializes with others who support YGO’s mission. She is a team player who provides support for events and activities as needed. Patricia also hosts the annual Chicas and Cocktails charity event benefiting YGO. She believes in sharing blessings with those in need.

Board member

Born and raised in Mérida, Liz studied International Business and co-founded PM23. Inspired by her parents’ community service, Liz has volunteered for 5 years at CAIMEDE’s art school and recently joined YGO’s Christmas toy deliveries to various villages. Passionate about coordinating and managing projects, Liz is grateful to all the donors and volunteers who make these initiatives possible. She’s also a huge Harry Potter fan.

Secretary

Shannon has been with YGO for 8 years, contributing to projects like art initiatives, English classes, and COVID relief. With 15+ years in nonprofits, she also owns Vida Pilates Studio in Mérida. Trained in conflict resolution and trauma response, Shannon is proud of YGO’s impactful work during the pandemic. She’s grateful to be part of an organization she deeply admires. Fun fact: Shannon shares a birthday with YGO’s founder, Kimmy!

Voting Board Member

Cindy retired 10 years ago as Chairman of an investment group and moved to Mexico. With a background in nursing, real estate, and construction for low-income families, she has always been driven to serve others. Cindy’s involvement with YGO has been a perfect fit, allowing her to use her organizational skills in event planning and fundraising. Her favorite project is hosting orphanages and shelters for a beach day. Cindy also sponsors two university students, believing in the power of community support to create lasting change.

Newest Board Member

David has been volunteering for many years and became more active during the pandemic. Volunteering is deeply fulfilling for him. David is skilled at organizing in the field, effectively communicating with volunteers and those in need, and quickly responding to challenges. He is proud to have helped deliver over 3,000 food packages during the pandemic. For David, life is better when you’re giving.

Graduate program coordinator

Cecilia has been leading YGO’s graduate program since 2019. Passionate about supporting others, she brings resilience, emotional intelligence, and leadership to her role. Over nearly six years, she has contributed to significant achievements and improvements within the program. Cecilia’s lifelong dedication to helping vulnerable people reflects her philosophy of doing good without expecting anything in return. She enjoys spending time with her family and dogs and is committed to continuing her work with young people while living life to the fullest.

Store manager

Alejandra has been YGO’s store manager since 2020. She’s passionate about fitness, her cats, and her love for Mérida. Alejandra’s dedication to helping the community has transformed her perspective on life. Organized and calm under pressure, she excels at problem-solving and managing donations at the store. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Alejandra also enjoys reading and sharing book recommendations. Each year, she works closely with Kimmy on YGO’s Toys for Joy project. For Alejandra, cooking for others is a heartfelt way of showing love.
